Supervised Visitation &
Custody Exchange
The Supervised Visitation program was created in response to reports by foster and birth families that children in out-of-home care were able to visit with birth families only sporadically. At that time, social workers had to find the time in their overflowing schedules to supervise these visits in their offices. Hearts and Homes’ Supervised Visitation program allows birth families to visit with foster children in a secure, safe, and home-like environment without over taxing social workers. Over time, Hearts and Homes identified more community needs and began providing supervised visitation and custody exchange to families in which one partner is abusive or in which a high conflict divorce is occurring. Last year Hearts and Homes provided over 1,100 hours of supervised visitation to 50 individuals. Who uses supervised visitation?
